Anthem RC Drop Home Match to Miami Sharks
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (June 16, 2024) – Anthem Rugby Carolina was defeated by the Miami Sharks, 14-30, on Sunday afternoon at American Legion Memorial Stadium. Anthem RC will play the final home match of the club’s inaugural season on Saturday, June 22 at 7:00 p.m. against the Chicago Hounds. Tickets can be purchased at anthemrc.com/tickets.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Miami took an early lead, but Anthem RC responded in the 15th minute with a try by Albert O’Shannessey off a pass from Shneil Singh. Cliven Loubser completed the conversion kick to tie the score at 7-7.
A very even match took a turn in the 32nd minute as David Still III received his second yellow card of the day, leaving Anthem RC down a man for the rest of the contest. The Sharks scored only two minutes later, retaking the lead.
Anthem RC managed to score one more try before the conclusion of the match in the 75th minute by Oscar Koller.
