Anthem RC Fall to NOLA Gold in High Point

Anthem RC took an early lead but failed to score again

HIGH POINT, N.C. (April 27, 2024) – Anthem Rugby Carolina faced defeat against NOLA Gold, 5-40, on Saturday evening at Truist Point. Anthem RC takes on the Seattle Seawolves on the road on Friday, May 3 at 10:30 p.m. (ET). The match can be streamed for free on The Rugby Network. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

Anthem RC scored the first points of the match in the fifth minute through a try by David Still III after he broke three tackles on his way to the try zone.

NOLA took the lead in the 20th minute and extended it to 5-14 in the 24th minute. The score increased to 5-26 before halftime. 

Despite a physical effort, Anthem RC failed to score again in the match.

“Some parts of the game were good for us, but the parts that were good last time were poor today.”

On ball handling
“A lot of that is individual, especially when it comes to ball carrying and getting the timing right and getting the technical side right. We’re losing a lot of balls in contact and collisions. Therefore, we’re turning the ball over a lot. I think we needed to hold onto the ball. We didn’t build enough pressure which is why we only got five points.”
