Anthem RC Falls to Miami, 5-31
MIAMI, FL (April 27, 2025) – A strong Miami Sharks defense caused Anthem RC issues Sunday night as the Sharks knocked off the visiting Anthem 31-5 in Miami.
Miami struck first as Tomas Cubelli touched down in the 9th minute. The conversion was knocked through and the home side got out to an early 7-0 lead.
Anthem thought they had stopped the Sharks short of the try line in the 18th minute, but after a lengthy TMO review, the try was awarded and the hosts doubled their advantage.
Anthem could not get much going on the attack as Miami’s physicality played a major factor in the first half. The times Anthem neared the try zone, penalties proved to be a major issue and thwarted attacks.
Miami added a penalty kick in the 27th lead and carried a 17-0 lead to the intermission.
Tomas Cubilla finished off a lovely move from Miami in the 44th minute to add to the total and give the Sharks a 24-0 lead.
Anthem moved the ball much quicker in the second half, nearly unlocking a score in the 62nd minute as Connor Mooneyham burst down the sideline, but again, penalties on the attack proved to be a problem as a knock-on was called.
Anthem did get on the board in the 64th minute as the visitors drew a turnover and a penalty. Off the line out, Anthem pushed the pile forward and Connor Robinson dove into the try zone to put five points on the board.
Miami added a final try late to receive a bonus point in the standings as the final score in Miami finished 31-5.
