Anthem RC Finish Inaugural Season Against New England Free Jacks
QUINCY, Mass. (June 29, 2024) – Anthem Rugby Carolina’s last match of the club’s inaugural season finished in a 40-7 defeat to the New England Free Jacks on Saturday evening at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Quincy, Massachusetts.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
New England caught Anthem RC off guard following a ruck for an early try in the third minute. The visitors held strong on defense after this, holding up the Free Jacks at the goal line and forcing turnovers, but New England doubled its lead in the 14th minute.
Anthem RC struggled to find any offensive momentum and went into the half trailing.
The Free Jacks continued pushing, but Cael Hodgson made a crucial solo tackle at the goal line in the 51st minute to prevent another score by the hosts.
Connor Robinson scored the only try of the match for Anthem RC in the 75th minute, and Oscar Koller scored the conversion kick.
